COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

The Geometric Design Committee establishes a forum for NCITE members to share, discuss, and explore the traffic operations and safety effects of roadway design elements.

The committee considers when and where to utilize specific design elements on roadways as well as how to design them to maximize safety and operational benefits. The committee also serves as a sounding board for design standards and guidelines under development by Mn/DOT. Topics include roundabouts, left-turn bypass lanes, two-way left turn lanes, length of turn lanes, free right turn lanes, single-point interchanges, and deviations from current standards.
