The North Central Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (NCITE)

NCITE consists of the Institute members residing in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota and affiliated persons. NCITE is a section within the ITE's 4th District, called MidwesternITE , which covers the mid-western states.

NCITE was organized early in 1963 and, like its parent organization, the Institute, has its roots in the traffic engineering profession.

Today, an engineering graduate need only be active in transportation or traffic engineering work to be eligible to join the Institute as an Associate Member. Only Associate Members and other members of the Institute may be members of the Section; those individuals not eligible for Institute membership may join NCITE as Section Affiliates.

There are two student chapters of ITE in the Section. The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and North Dakota State University in Fargo have ITE student chapters.

At the beginning of 1999, over 300 individuals were either members or affiliates of the Section.
